Introduction to Tablet Card Band Weaving @WildcraftDyeing
Dive into the incredible world of tablet band weaving. With a sumptuous range of delicious angular designs and timeless pattern diversity, this exquisite weaving form is well suited to small living spaces and limited budgets. No other form of band weaving bursts with such life and complexity. From ancient Egypt and Europe, to Asia and South America, its historical popularity spans three millennia. Its uses have been diverse; from treasured silken embellishments on clothing, to structural borders on larger woven pieces, stand-alone belts to binding the edges of 14th Century European clothing. Modernly, it can be used from everything from collars of cherished pets, bookmarks, lanyards, jewelry and fashion. Though recreating ancient finds can be an exciting facet for historical recreation clothing. While there are several distinct forms of tablet weaving, the warped-in method presented here encourages newer weavers to use their creativity in colour choices with classic patterns while building the muscle memory and confidence for a wide range of historical patterns and techniques.
