The String Pull Technique for Soap Making. In this video I make soap with the string pull technique. I really love this simple yet beautiful technique to dress up the soap a little bit. I have been experimenting quite a bit with the string pull technique in the last few months. I have tried pulling the string in different ways, using several colors at once and also applying soap batter with a squeeze bottle instead of dipping the string in soap batter. I have found that pulling the string like I originally did in my first video produces the best results for me. So that is what I decided to do for these activated charcoal bars. I like this technique on a darker colored soap, I think the contrast shows up much better than with a light background. Recipe: Olive oil 50% - 300 g Coconut oil 20% - 120 g Shea butter 20% - 120 g Castor oil 5% - 30 g Avocado oil 5% - 30 g NaOH 79.7 g Water 127.6 g Superfat 7% Water to lye ratio 1.6:1 Activated charcoal 3 tsp Fragrance oil 15 g For the white soap I used the same recipe but unscented and colored with titanium dioxide.
