Case Information 1: At 11:30 PM on August 14, 2022, Pham Hoang My, Le Ngoc Huu, and Duong Van Teo were drinking at a cafe. During the drinking session, a conflict arose between Teo and My. Teo challenged My, saying that he had a knife but didn't dare stab anyone, so My angrily took the knife and tapped it lightly on Teo. Teo continued to provoke My, saying that he didn't dare stab him for real, so My pulled the knife out of its sheath and stabbed Teo forcefully. As a result, Teo died. Afterwards, My and Huu discussed a false statement, and My then took the knife and disposed of it. Case Information 2: On November 4, 2022, the People's Court of Quang Tri Province held a first-instance trial for former monk Vo Viet Dat (42 years old; residing in Duong Le Dong village, Trieu Thuan commune, Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province) and Doan Thanh Tuan (50 years old, residing in Dai Thuong Ha village, Trieu Long commune, Trieu Phong district) for the crime of "Murder". Vo Viet Dat was a Buddhist monk, assigned to take care of Buddhist affairs at Duong Le Dong Pagoda (Trieu Thuan commune, Trieu Phong district). Dat had a close relationship with Ms. L.T.H. (born in 1972, residing in Ai Tu town, Trieu Phong district), and Ms. H. often showed concern and care for Dat. Whenever she saw female Buddhists coming to the temple, Ms. H. would often argue and scold Dat. Feeling that Ms. H. had feelings beyond normal and wanted to control him, Dat felt uncomfortable. Doan Thanh Tuan was an acquaintance and often came to the temple to meet Dat. Therefore, Ms. H. asked Tuan to let her know if he saw any women when he came to the temple, Tuan did not agree, so Ms. H. hated and often scolded and insulted both Dat and Tuan. Upset by this, Vo Viet Dat and Doan Thanh Tuan discussed and agreed to call Ms. H. back to Duong Le Dong to beat her. Here, Dat used a bamboo stick and an iron stick to kill Ms. H. Afterwards, Dat planned to throw the victim's body into the Thach Han River to dispose of it, so he borrowed a car to carry out this act. Case Information 3: From around September 2021, Tong Thi Tung Linh had the intention to kill her biological father, Mr. Tong Hong Diep (54 years old, also residing in Ba Ria City). Tong Thi Tung Linh mashed sleeping pills and mixed them into water for Mr. Diep to drink, but was unsuccessful. After that, Linh searched the internet for the poison cyanide to poison her father. On January 18, 2022, Linh took a passenger car to Kim Bien Market (District 5, Ho Chi Minh City) to buy cyanide poison. At first, defendant Thu did not sell. Because Linh pleaded and said that she was a student who needed it for an experiment, Ms. Thu called Ms. Le Thi R (42 years old, residing in Ho Chi Minh City) to ask to buy it back. Ms. R. quoted a price of 220,000 VND/1kg, then Ms. Thu sold it to Linh for 500,000 VND/1kg. After buying cyanide, Linh returned to Ba Ria City and carried out her plan to put the poison in a water bottle for her father to drink. After Mr. Diep died, Linh created a fake scene by setting the house on fire, then spreading the news that someone had broken in. The arson caused two motorbikes to be burned.
