A seaside town, like the rest of Agrigento, it fully represents the untapped potential of a land full of regrets. As with the municipality of Agrigento, the term "tourist vocation" for Porto Empedocle is too narrow and clashes with the current situation. Although, for the latter, something is finally moving in the tertiary sector. But the crisis is present and is felt by the residents who must deal with economic problems and necessary expenses every day.
