Most guitar players learn the five pentatonic box patterns, but they never learn how to join them together. That is why solos can feel trapped in one little area of the neck. In this guitar lesson, I’ll show you a simple way to move between the pentatonic boxes using triangle shapes on the G and B strings. You’ll see how box 1 connects to box 2, how the big and small triangles repeat across the neck, and how the right angle triangle brings everything back round again. We’ll use A minor pentatonic first, then move the same idea into E minor so you can see how the pattern transfers to other keys. This is a practical fretboard visualisation lesson for beginner and novice guitar players who know the pentatonic scale but still feel stuck when soloing.
