Valentin and Sirga on a walk

I've met Valentin Gruener and Sirga the lioness in 2013 for the first time, have been following their story since then and just came back from my fifth visit. It was awesome to see that she can enjoy her own reserve (2000 hectare) in the Kalahari now. Sometimes, if other wild lions are around, Val brings her into her smaller enclosure for safety reasons which happened before I arrived. It was great to witness the moment when he brought Sirga back into her big area. The collar helps to check up on her constantly and she can come home whenever she wants to. Botswana, August 2022.
