Female Rage: Warum wir Frauen ihre Wut verbieten | NANO Doku
How does a universal emotion turn into blind hatred—and who in our society even has the right to be angry? While anger is often feared as a destructive force, a closer look reveals that it is also a question of power. Hanife Ada experienced the most horrific endpoint of this escalation. Her years-long ordeal of domestic violence and attempted murder by her ex-husband culminated in the realization: "My enemy was in my bed." Today, as "Austrian Woman of the Year 2022," she is a key voice against femicide. With her aid organization "Yetis Bacim," she supports women in breaking free from the trap of violence. The philosopher Amani Abuzahra analyzes how the evaluation of anger is strongly dependent on cultural and social power structures. In her book "A Place Called Anger" and in workshops with school classes, she explains why the anger of marginalized groups is often criminalized as a threat, while for others it is considered a legitimate expression of strength. For her, anger is an important "marker" that shows us where boundaries are crossed and where social exclusion begins. In the digital realm, this anger encounters a completely different form of aggression: misogyny and online hate. Author and influencer Tara-Louise Wittwer uses her enormous reach under the name "wastarasagt" to expose misogynistic structures with irony. She makes so-called "female rage"—collective, female anger—visible and shows how this emotion can connect women across generations instead of isolating them. But anger can also be a life-saving force. Eliora, operations manager at Sea-Watch, proves this. Her frustration with European migration policy and social injustice drives her to save lives in the Mediterranean. For her, anger is a constructive energy that alleviates the fear of the magnitude of global problems and compels action. From the fight against domestic violence to activist work on the high seas: anger is a necessary response to injustice. And it can – if channeled properly – make the world a more peaceful place. #Anger #Psychology #FemaleRage #InternationalWomensDay #WomensRights #DomesticViolence NANO – the science magazine on 3sat More NANO at: kurz.zdf.de/3nano/ Even more exciting science documentaries: https://kurz.3sat.de/PjM/ 00:00 "My Enemy in Bed": Hanife's Story 01:09 The Escalation: From Emotion to Violence 01:35 Femicides: The Deadly Reality in Europe 03:31 The Silence of the Neighbors: Why No One Helped 04:24 Philosopher Amani Abuzahra: Anger as a Question of Power 05:37 Workshop: How Children Channel Their Anger 06:25 Racism and Exclusion: Who Is Allowed to Be Angry? 07:29 Tara-Louise Wittwer: The Fight Against Digital Hate 09:08 Female Rage: The Unifying Power of Female Anger 10:27 Sea-Watch: How Eliora Saves Lives Out of Anger 12:14 Conclusion: Using Anger as Constructive Energy Thumbnail AI-generated
