In late June of last year (2025), a fatal traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Zhongxiao East Road and Xinsheng South Road in Taipei City. A 77-year-old man surnamed Lai was driving a large crane when it collided with three motorcycles, resulting in one death and two injuries. During the investigation, the driver died of illness. The deceased's mother sought compensation from the towing company that owned the crane. Now, the civil judgment has been issued, and the family's claim for support payments was ultimately awarded only NT$0. They also questioned the source of the NT$7 million mandatory insurance coverage figure listed in the judgment.
