The exegesis of the Qur'an is one of the most important of the islamic disciplines, and the Hanafis in Ottoman lands were strategic in how they used it to further the Hanafi project. Listen to this special session with Ustadh Arnold Yasin Mol (PhD Candidate) as he leads us through the Ottoman Tasir Tradition, its visions, styles, authors and more. SPEAKER Arnold Yasin Mol is a PhD Fellow and Lecturer in Islamic Studies and Arabic Philosophy at the Leiden University Institute for Philosophy and Associate Fellow at the Leiden University Center for Islamic Thought and History (LUCITH). His doctorate research focuses on on anthropological concepts (theories of the human, othering) within Islamic intellectual and exegetical history. He is also the Thesis Coordinator and Lecturer in Comparative Theology and Philosophy of Religion at the Islamic University of Applied Sciences Rotterdam (IUASR). And is a Research Assistant at the British Institute for the Revival of Traditional Islamic Sciences (IRTIS.org.uk) under the guidance of Mufti Amjad M. Mohammed, studies the Islamic sciences through Deoband and Ottoman curriculum, and is a Fellow at Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research (YIIR, yaqeeninstitute.com).
