What German Colonel Said When Asked Which General He Would Never Fight Again

In the final months of the war, a captured German Colonel from the elite 11th Panzer Division gave a candid interview to his American captors. When asked which commander he would least like to face in a rematch, he didn't name a strategist or a politician. He named the man who had just annihilated his division in the Lorraine: George S. Patton. To the Colonel, Patton's ability to coordinate air power, armor, and mobile infantry was "inhuman," creating a tempo of battle that no human mind could counter once it gained momentum.
