This is an interesting grape variety, and in this story, I want to tell you why it's worth taking a closer look. Cabernet Sauvignon is the most popular wine grape in the world. Its total planting area worldwide is over 290,000 hectares. This is why it is rightfully called the "king" of red grape varieties. It emerged relatively recently by historical standards, namely in the 17th century. It is the fruit of an illicit love affair between two other well-known varieties – Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. Why illicit? Because our Cabernet was born through spontaneous, natural crossing; no one deliberately bred it. Bordeaux is considered the birthplace of Cabernet. Incidentally, France still leads in terms of cultivation volumes of this variety. And today, it grows, no less, all over the world: in the USA, Chile, Spain, Italy, Australia, South Africa, Argentina, and even China. And what makes it so popular?
