Introduction to embedded systems and the use of the C language in microcontrollers. Slides, Handouts, Exercise Guides: https://sites.google.com/unifei.edu.b... In the context of this presentation, an embedded system will be considered any dedicated system, generally low-cost, with simplified hardware, microprocessor-based, and with scarce resources. People working in this area face several challenges: the need for knowledge in various areas such as computing, electronics, reliability, communication, among others; an extensive set of standards and regulations to be followed depending on the product area; comprehensive projects in which the hardware directly impacts the software and vice versa. In this environment, the C language is the most widely used because it presents a good balance between abstraction and low-level access to the hardware. Understanding the compilation process is important in programming these systems because, in general, greater control over the binary to be generated is needed. The second part of the presentation explains some pre-compilation directives and the structuring of the initial code through infinite loops as a starting point for the program.
