Together with Fabian and our cameraman Clemens, we drove across Germany in the new BMW iX3, towing Fabian's caravan, from Bremen to the Bavarian Forest and back again a few days later. In total, we covered around 1,600 kilometers. We wanted to find out how an electric car performs as a tow vehicle in real-world camping situations. What's the energy consumption? How often do you have to charge? Do you have to unhitch at every charging station? How complicated is route planning really? And above all: Is it practical for everyday use, or is diesel still the better choice? We're not electric car experts, just campers who were curious and wanted to try it out for ourselves. After many kilometers, several charging stops, and a wealth of experience, here's our honest conclusion.
