Managing Dry Beans Organically: Agronomic Considerations for Your Farm

SDSPA and Ben Brockmueller from the University of Wisconsin-Madison explored dry bean production, from variety selection to agronomic management in organic systems. Ben covered dry beans as a unique crop that can transcend different scales on both small and larger scale farmers, as well as integrating reduced tillage in organic operations. Ben Brockmueller is a researcher working for the Organic and Sustainable Cropping Systems program led by Dr. Erin Silva at the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a focus on developing diverse cropping systems with reduced tillage. This program is supported through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP). TOPP is a program of the USDA Organic Transition Initiative and is administered by the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) National Organic Program (NOP). @UsdaGov‬ #USDAOrganicTransition #usdagov #sdspecialtyproducers #sodakgrown #sdorganicproducers
