RWW #19: George Sokolsky, Forgotten Conservative

Time magazine called George Sokolsky (1893-1962) “the high priest of militant U.S. anti-Communism.” Familiarity bred contempt. Before his days as an ABC News commentator and syndicated columnist, Sokolsky left the Soviet Union under a deportation order and subsequently observed the Chinese Communists closely during more than a decade living in China. Sokolsky returned to a changed New York a changed man during the early 1930s. His Close Encounters of the Communist Kind had molded his hard anti-Communism.
