DEÜ 2967 | BMC Belde 220-17B | 1997 Balta Burun ile Özel Sefer

After the ESHOT tender, which was lost due to the technological backwardness and the high price of the buses it produced in 1992, BMC introduced the Belde 220-17B model in 1993 to reduce the production costs of the Belde 214-17 bus. With a few big and small changes such as increasing the horsepower of the engine, changing the axle type, changes in the interior layout, the transition of the glass from the glazing to the soft cornered rubber glass, the Belde 220-17B can easily be distinguished from its predecessor under normal circumstances. The 220-17B buses, which were bought by ESHOT and İzulaş administrations too in 1997, 1998 and 1999, worked only until 2012. BMC of İzmir started to produce 220-17C and stopped producing the notorious 220-17B model which was known for its frequent breakdowns throughout the country in 1999. This is one of the 3 first-generation Belde buses under the administration of Dokuz Eylül University. Belde 220-17B with 35 Y 2967 registration plate still serves university students to this day.
