2022 Our day with the Mountain Gorillas in Rwanda

July 21, 2022 Orientation for our Gorilla Trek is held at the Volcano National Park Headquarters, where we meet our guide, Eugene. Just our group of 5 from Overseas Adventure Travel, so we got a private trek. I joined Marc and Pat Gruber, plus Don and Karen Covey. What are the odds, we're all from Florida. An hour and a half drive to our location, and we luck out again; we're visiting the Igisha Gorilla family that has 34 members in its troop. We hiked 1hr 15min uphill through a bamboo forest dotted with stinging nettles to meet our tracker. Dropped our backpacks, left our walking sticks, put on our masks and we got our cameras ready; gorillas were nearby.
