Newcomer Morihisa Yamauchi of the Ryukyu Golden Kings basketball team interacted with students from a special needs school through basketball. The exchange event was held in the sub-arena of the Okinawa Suntory Arena. Coach Tsubasa Yonamine and Morihisa Yamauchi, a native of Okinawa City who has returned to the Kings after 10 seasons, served as instructors, and 39 third-year students from the senior high school division of Okinawa Prefectural Misaki Special Needs School participated. The students practiced passing in a circle and tried their hand at a mini-game of dribbling. Tsubasa Yonamine, Player Development Coach: Please support the Kings and Yamauchi-san! Morihisa Yamauchi, Ryukyu Golden Kings: Seeing them enjoying basketball so wholeheartedly made me reflect on how I was when I first started playing basketball. Opportunities to interact with children are rare, so I want to do my best to become a source of dreams and hope for them. Fukunaga Hiwamu, 3rd year, Misaki Prefectural Special Needs School, Senior High School: "During the dribbling relay, Yamauchi-san told me I was good, and I was very happy to hear that from a player. I've only seen him on TV, but seeing him in person, I thought he was a cool player with a great physique." The students seemed to have enjoyed the fun of basketball through the exchange event.
