DIY '03 - '08 Toyota Matrix Corolla Replace Exhaust Gasket Donut 1ZZFE
This video shows how to change the exhaust gasket (donut gasket) that fits between the exhaust manifold and the front tail pipe on a 1ZZFE engine (Toyota Matrix, Corolla). A common sign that this gasket has failed is that you can smell exhaust in the cabin when you have the outside-air or defroster running. The process is similar for the Matrix XRS (2ZZGE engine), but the part number for the gasket is different (I think the part # for the 2ZZGE is Toyota 17451-0D040, or Fel-pro 61190 -- doublecheck). Good luck with your repair!
