Woodworking with Fusion 360 - Incorporating Drawer Slides
If you've ever wanted to use Fusion 360 to design woodworking projects that include actual drawer slide models, then this video is for you. I show you how to create a static (non-moving) drawer slide from an imported model, as well as a dynamic (real-world movement) drawer slide from the boring 3D model supplied by the drawer slide manufacturer. I talk slowly so you can follow along with your own project if you like. If you just want to watch and get a feel for what's being done, I suggest you increase the playback speed. This project uses some of the more advanced features of Fusion 360 in the creation of joints with realistic motion, and motion limits and linkages. It took me several man days of practice to get to a rudimentary level of proficiency making joints. Actually making the joints isn't that difficult, but specifying the precise points on a component that join with points on another component takes practice and can be frustrating until practice turns on some light-bulbs in your head. Joints that move can be defined with parameters that restrict motion (called "joint limits"), and this facility is demonstrated in one of the example models created in this video. When two moving joints move in relation to each other, defining those relationships (called "motion limits") is also demonstrated in the example. I consider both the joint limit and motion limit facilities to be advanced level usage of Fusion 360 and they require practice and determination to master.
