The Villainy of Galrath (HM) - Guild Wars (Prophecies)

Be sure to also check out my alternative playthrough where I equipped Xandra with the Ranger skill “Frozen Soil”, preventing the use of resurrection skills here:    • The Villainy of Galrath (HM) - Guild Wars ...   Frozen Soil can be extremely helpful during this mission, but it can just as easily backfire! The created spirit prevents the use of resurrection skills for both allies and enemies! 00:00 Start from Kessex Peak 13:25 The Bandit Plateau 17:35 The Second Plateau 24:55 The Final Plateau - Galrath The renegade Galrath is a former White Mantle warrior who has fallen under the influence of dark magic. In his pursuit of forbidden arcane knowledge, he seeks access to the mysterious Wizard’s Tower in Kessex Peak. If he succeeds, he could become far more dangerous than he already is. Galrath still has loyal supporters throughout Kryta, and even among the Lionguard, not everyone can be trusted anymore. That is why an outsider is needed to stop him. Getting There Start from the Temple of the Ages with a full 8-man party. Travel south and then continue southeast toward Kessex Peak, this is where the playthrough itself begins. Just follow the path until you eventually reach the top of the hill overlooking the cliff of a plateau occupied by large groups of bandits, with the wizard's floating tower visible in the distance. That’s where the real challenge begins. The Bandit Plateau To reach Galrath, you first descend along the cliffs. At the bottom, you’ll encounter some followers of Verata, who occasionally clash with nearby Bandit groups when they get too close to each other. You can sometimes use this to your advantage, although Verata’s followers rarely survive long against the overwhelming number of Bandits. Eventually, however, you’ll have to fight your own way uphill toward Galrath. The Real Difficulty The mission’s biggest challenge is managing the enormous number of tightly packed Bandit groups. Pulling enemies one group at a time is absolutely essential, but much easier said than done. The Bandits: Stand extremely close together Have excellent healers Frequently heal members of neighboring groups This often causes accidental chain aggro that can spiral out of control very quickly. Even with a longbow, the elevation changes sometimes forces you to move dangerously close before enemies properly aggro. The terrain also makes proper clumping difficult, despite grouping enemies together being almost mandatory if you want to maintain control of the fights. Learning the layout of the plateau and enemy behaviour becomes extremely important here. One thing I noticed is that the Bandit group guarding the narrow passage to the final plateau refuses to move far from their position. A better strategy is to: Wait for the patrols behind them to move closer to the edge Pull those groups first Drag them as far away from the main plateau as possible before engaging Distance matters a lot here. If enemy groups fail to stay clustered, melee fighters and casters will often split apart. In those situations, prioritize the casters, especially the healers and mesmers. If left alive too long, they can drag fights out indefinitely and eventually overwhelm your team. By carefully thinning out the Bandits group by group, Galrath himself eventually becomes little more than a formality. ──────────────────── Builds Used ──────────────────── Player: Starburst Charge (E/A) Build code: OgdUgU1yyPR4Org0k4gHR5QoDlVA Attributes: Fire Magic 11+3+1 | Energy Storage 9+1 | Air Magic 10 | Shadow Arts 4 Hero 1: Tahlkora – Unyielding Aura (Mo) Build code: OwAS4YIPMkLSXEv6So+2VrP Attributes: Smiting Prayers 12+3+1 | Divine Favor 12+1 Hero 2: Olias – Life Sheath Protector (N/Mo) Build code: OANDY8NPTjR1DaR3VxDJgNiVV Attributes: Soul Reaping 12+3+1 | Protection Prayers 12 Hero 3: Livia – BiP Healer (N/Rt) Build Code: OAhjQoGYIP3hhWVVaO5GnN7kLA Attributes: Blood Magic 11+3+1 | Soul Reaping 9+1 | Restoration Magic 12 Hero 4: Razah – Stolen Speed (Me) Build code: OQBDAasjSwNIgrAkA5ZEBZAOAA Attributes: Illusion Magic 11+3+1 | Fast Casting 10+1 | Inspiration Magic 10+1 Hero 5: Gwen – Mantra of Recovery (Me) Build code: OQBDAqsjONgpHpLHMEKqEhMA Attributes: Domination Magic 11+3+1 | Fast Casting 10+1 | Inspiration Magic 10 Hero 6: Xandra – Soul Twisting Protection (Rt) Build code: OACjAyhDJPYTrX48xBNdmI3LGA Attributes: Spawning 12+3+1 | Communing 12+1 | Restoration Magic 3 Hero 7: Hayda – Hex Eater Vortex (P/Me) Build code: OQWjIomK6OE1hAO9E3j9x74aMA Attributes: Leadership 10+3+1 | Command 10+2 | illusion Magic 10 ──────────────────── All builds are shown as used in this run.
