And the most frustrating thing is that after such a setback in September, the teacher will need another four to six weeks just to get the class back to the level they left in the spring. Essentially, they're losing not three, but almost half a year of learning. But the good news is, preventing this isn't difficult at all. In this video, I discuss how to protect your child from summer setbacks without turning the holidays into boot camp. I'll explain which knowledge and skills suffer the most and at what age, how to maintain reading literacy and math skills in literally 5-10 minutes a day, and how to use the summer not only to retain knowledge but also to close gaps or take your child to a new level.
