A separate chapter is devoted to the weapon's unique design: an ejector-air barrel cooling system, a disc magazine without a feed spring, and a return spring in a separate box with a toothed rack. These solutions have never been replicated exactly—and which allowed one soldier to deliver firepower where machine guns simply couldn't reach before. And the finale speaks for itself: on November 7, 1941, Red Army soldiers marched across Red Square with Lewis guns in hand—and went straight from the parade to the front.
