Fatou Ngum aka Abu Betts - Oussu Njie Senor

The late great Oussu Njie was at the centre of the Gambian music scene for over 40 years. He first achieved notoriety with The Super Eagles when "Mandal ly" was released. He wrote over 50 songs which includes "Gambia Sunu Rew, "Viva Super Eagles" and " Haleli Africa". I was honoured to have worked with him on the Kairo project of which he was one of the greatest supporters and very much wanted to encourage the youth to maximise their potential, which is what this original GRTS produced video clip portrays. I should like to impart that on the day this song was mixed in Dakar, a renowned French producer was in town. On hearing the shaker, he remarked that his had obviously been "inserted via a click track & quantised, as it was perfectly in time". I was proud to relay that Oussu had played the part himself from start to finish in one take, with not one single dropped beat!!! May his soul rest in perfect peace and his soothing voice continue to inspire us.....
