Algues by Bernard Andres (b. 1941) | Vivace International School of Music
MH Chamber Music Series 2024-25 Season - I @ Vivace International School of Music Algues by Bernard Andres (b. 1941) Ms. Julia Tondera | Violin Dr. Yirui Li | Harp Bernard Andres’ “Algues” for harp and violin is a contemporary piece that explores the interplay of textures and sounds, creating a dynamic and evocative atmosphere. The title, meaning "seaweeds" in French, reflects the work's organic, flowing character, which mirrors the movement and rhythm of ocean life. The piece combines delicate, shimmering harp arpeggios with expressive violin lines, blending together to create a rich soundscape. Through unconventional techniques and a delicate balance between the two instruments, it evokes both the serenity and the subtle turbulence of nature, drawing the listener into a contemplative and immersive sonic world. -------------------------------------------------------- Vivace International School of Music was founded by Tong Yan, a first violinist of the Houston Symphony Orchestra.
