Restoration of an Antique Finnish Knife. /Sorsakoski knife/

At first it seemed like a plain old knife that came to me for restoration, but during cleaning it turned out to be a Finnish knife made about 100 years ago. I will try to restore it as similar to the original as possible. Before his death, in 1807, J.F. Hackman bought a small industrial site at Sorsakoski in Finland, with a sawmill,a lumber mill and a brickyard. In 1876 Hackman, now operated by Johan Friedrich, Jr. began manufacturing cutlery in Nurmi, a small village. Most of the production was exported to Russia, but the intention was to expand the market to include all of Europe. In 1885 the factory employed almost 100 people. The making of knives went on in parallel. The oldest knives were branded "Hackman Wiborg". In the early 1890's all production is transferred to Sorsakoski and a new brand appears: "Hackman Sorsakoski" or simply "Sorsakoski".
