The engine has been significantly redesigned and reinforced to handle the increased output of 500 horsepower, and we hope it performs well in the combine. A KAMAZ Liebherr engine under the hood of the Torum is certainly aspirational, but the plant has decided to take a cost-cutting approach and see how the YaMZ-238 ND performs. Perhaps we'll get lucky and the engine won't cause any surprises. I don't share this optimism, primarily because I'm well aware of the poor production culture at the Yaroslavl plant. If by some miracle this engine can be manufactured and assembled within the materials and tolerances specified by the designers, it will be a reliable and low-maintenance engine.
