PEDAL SHOOTOUT | Boss OD3 vs Boss SD1 (No Talking)

In this video, we compare the Boss OD3 against the legendary SD1 to see how they stack up in gain, tone shaping, and real-world usability. Transparent drive versus mid-hump classic, let’s hear it. 🎸 Guitar - Chapman Ghost Fret V2 📢 Amp - Fender Twin Reverb 🎙️ Audio Interface - Focusrite Scarlett Solo ⏱️Chapters⏱️ 0:07 - Low Gain Comparison 2:00 - Mid Gain & Dynamics 3:15 - Max Gain Test 🏁Final Verdict🏁 Both pedals are excellent and serve slightly different purposes. The SD1 leans into that classic Tube Screamer-style response with a strong mid bump, making it perfect for pushing an amp into breakup and helping your tone cut through a mix. It’s smooth, focused, and very musical. The OD3 is more transparent with noticeably more gain on tap. It retains more of your natural tone and offers a fuller frequency response, but its overdrive can come across a bit harsher compared to the SD1, especially at higher settings. Both pedals work great as boost-style drives into a breaking amp or as standalone overdrives. It really comes down to whether you prefer the mid-focused push of the SD1 or the more open, higher gain character of the OD3.
