Brits Visit America's Most Unique Island... We Didn't Expect This 🇺🇸

We finally made it to Mackinac Island, one of the most unique places we visited during our American road trip. With no cars allowed, the island is filled with bicycles, horse-drawn carriages, beautiful waterfront views & plenty of food that we had never tried before. We only had 1 day to explore, so we wanted to experience as much of Mackinac Island as possible. We began at Millie’s on Main, where we tried a Michigan olive burger, a pasty served with gravy and coleslaw, and Great Lakes whitefish tacos. David has avoided fish for years, so even getting him to take a bite was a major moment. His reaction was not what any of us expected. We then visited the original Murdick’s Fudge, where Mackinac Island’s famous fudge-making tradition began in 1887. After watching the fudge being poured, folded and shaped by hand, we chose chocolate mint to taste later. There was still time for ice cream from Kilwins before we boarded one of the island’s horse-drawn carriages. The tour took us away from Main Street to Arch Rock, the butterfly house and historic Fort Mackinac. By then, we had realised that one day on Mackinac Island simply was not enough. Back at our accommodation, we ended the adventure with our Murdick’s chocolate mint fudge and a Sanders Bumpy Cake. It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable day in Michigan.
