Tödi / Piz Russein (3612 m) Attempt in Difficult Conditions - Mountaineering Switzerland

This was an attempt to climb Tödi / Piz Russein (3612 m) from the Fridolinshütte SAC on 1st September 2023. I was climbing with a friend and fellow member of the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC). The first day (31st August) was a long hike up to the mountain hut Fridolinshütte where we stayed for the night. In the early morning of 1st September, we started climbing towards the summit. We quickly realized that conditions were unusually difficult and dangerous up there due to the fresh summer snowfall. We decided to return before entering the highly crevassed sections of the Biferten Glacier.
