Bernadette - "Guantanamera" for accordion

"Guantanamera" or, in Spanish, 'The woman from Guantanemo,' uses lyrics from a poem from the collection, 'Simple Versus,' by Cuban poet, José Marti. The official writing credits have been given to Joseito Fernández who first popularized the song on radio in 1929. 'The Weavers' recorded and performed a rendition of the song in their 1963 Carnegie Hall reunion concert. Shortly after 'The Weavers' concert, Pete Seeger also recorded and performed the song live at Carnegie Hall. The most commercially successful version of "Guantanamera" in the English-speaking world was recorded by the American vocal group, 'The Sandpipers,' in 1966 and became an international hit. It reached No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 7 on the UK Singles chart. With its gentle melody, I though this would be a wonderful song to play on accordion. I hope you enjoy my interpretation.
