Sega pecel is a Javanese dish in the form of sega with pecel. The side dishes usually consist of kangkung or spinach, lanjaran beans, tela leaves, kates leaves, and in Central Java and East Java sometimes turi flowers and lamtara seeds (mlanding) are added. Sega pecel is usually served with fried tempeh or crackers. The most famous and commonly found is the Pecel Madhiun version of sega pecel, but there are also many other versions spread throughout Indonesia such as in Blora, Kudus, Banyumas, Tegal, Tulungagung, Kadhiri, etc. In the city of Semarang, namely around Simpang Lima, there is a 'mBok Sadhor' pecel seller who sells only in the afternoon. Pecel rice is accompanied by a choice of side dishes including keong (escargot), martabak, and other common side dishes such as fried tempé or crackers. In the Yogyakarta region, this pecel rice dish is known by the short name 'SGPC' which means 'pecel rice'. Pecel rice or pecel rice is a typical Javanese Indonesian rice dish served with pecel. The pecel in pecel rice dishes is usually made from water spinach, long beans, cassava leaves, papaya leaves, or turi flowers mixed with peanut sauce. As the name suggests, this traditional dish consists of white rice which is then added with pecel seasoning, various vegetables and sambal tumpang which is its signature.
