Gäste von Jay-Z bis Leo DiCaprio: Wie Scorpios auf Mykonos zu DEM Beachclub wurde (Gründer erzählt)
In 2013, Thomas Heyne and Mario Hertel took over a disused restaurant. Today, they generate nearly €45 million in revenue (net!) in just four and a half months of the season. And the Mykonos location has become one of the world's most exclusive beach clubs: Scorpios. On warm summer days, there are sometimes more yachts anchored off the coast than there are parking spaces for cars. A thousand boats then dock at Scorpios – bringing with them a clientele that reads like the guest list of the Oscars. Jay-Z and Beyoncé have been there, as have Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon. And David Guetta, Avicii, and Swedish House Mafia have all spun records at the DJ booths. Today, an evening with these DJs costs as much as a detached house. Thomas Heyne paid as much for them as for a two-week all-inclusive vacation with half-board. In the OMR Podcast, Thomas Heyne talks about his beginnings in the restaurant scene in Ulm. It's about people who ripped him off ("At some point, I realized my employees were driving bigger cars than I was"), Soho House's investment in Scorpios – and the question of why, despite his exit and celebrity club, he sometimes wishes the day were already over… 00:00:00 - Intro 00:00:51 - Welcome & Thomas' beginnings between Ulm, Augsburg, and Bali 00:03:19 - First club successes at "Meyers" and the art of exclusive door policy 00:06:53 - From the "Schwermontag" mega-event to the painful end of his restaurant career 00:16:52 - New beginning in Mykonos: Tough learning years at Paradise Beach 00:23:33 - The EDM hype: How Thomas & Mario discovered tomorrow's global stars 00:32:18 - The "San Giorgio Hotel & the Radical Transformation into Day Clubbing 00:35:21 - The Scorpios Story: From Legendary Nature Conservation Project to Global Hit 00:44:12 - Brutal Figures: €45 Million in Revenue in Just 4.5 Months 01:02:57 - The Million-Dollar Exit at Soho House Just Before the Pandemic 01:11:04 - Crypto Hype on the Beach: The $40 Million NFT Drop 01:12:20 - Global Business: Lessons from Tulum, Bodrum, and the New Mega-Project in Dubai 01:23:23 - The Real Jet-Set Life: Family in Athens, Tough KPIs, and 7 Days of Hard Work More from the OMR Podcast: 🎙 https://omr.com/de/podcast 🤳 / omrpodcast_official 📱 https://api.whatsapp.com/send/?phone=...
