How to wire up an in-cab remote winch switch - here we take you through the motions (including a wiring diagram) of installing a 7 pin rocker switch, plus safety switch, right by your steering wheel, in a way that should be transferable for any vehicle or dash position. We filmed the process with both our original Warn solenoids, as well as an Albright contactor pack, so you can wire it up regardless of what type of solenoid you're running. It can be really advantageous to be able to operate your winch from inside the cab, where you can be in control of both at the same time while keeping anyone outside of the vehicle well clear of the winch cable at a safe distance. If you're winching, chances are also that you might be on a slope, where you probably want to keep a foot on the brake to make sure there's no chance of your truck rolling downhill (especially if you have a car that's not exactly known for its handbrake reliability). In fact, if a vehicle was ever produced with a winch as a factory standard, it would inevitably come with a cab switch like your air-con or radio, but as an aftermarket purchase, it kinda makes sense that it would only have a remote. Remotes, however are also fallible- the connectors can coroode or fail over time, so it's a good idea to have a backup should you find you plug it in and find it unresponsive.
