About the Rating: At the end of the video, I thought that it would be a nice idea to have a rating for the products that I test. So, based on the general 5 star rating used all over, I made my rating to better suit my personality. The rating is based on my testing and my opinion of a specific product. It takes into consideration many factors like performance, reliability, availability and many other aspects which are essential to a consumer. Of course, some of these factors may not be applicable to other regions or demographics. As price is another factor in this rating, a product may be cheaper in other regions, rendering my rating as inadequate. In this case, you should reconsider if the product is suitable for you or not. About the tests: Light output - This parameter was measured using a specific instrument called the Lux meter. As the name implies, this measures the LUX value of a specific light source. In other words, the amount of light that is hitting a surface. Compared with Lumen, which describes the total light output of a light source in all directions, Lux is more relevant in this case because it measures the light projected by the headlight. For example, a poorly designed headlight bulb with a high lumen rating will not focus the light properly. therefore it will have a bad Lux reading. We are interested in road illumination, not specific bulb brightness. The test was performed using a projector type headlight and a reflector type headlight. The headlight units were positioned at 3 meters from the projection surface, where the measurement was made. Every bulb was powered using the power supply set at 14 volts. Both headlights are used to recreate real life usage. In general, projector headlights offer less light output because the light needs to pass through an additional medium (the lens) which, with time, can get dirty. Moreover, projectors have a smaller mirror further contributing to its lower light output. Efficiency loss - This parameter was measured using a TSL2591 High Dynamic Range Digital Light Sensor positioned at 30cm from the light source. The code used to run on the Arduino was configured to record a reading every second for 30 minutes. All bulbs were powered at 14V. Real wattage - This was measured using a high accuracy power supply. The bulbs were powered at 14V. By multiplying the volts with the amps, the real wattage can be determined.
