Mud, Rain & River Crossings! Exploring Styx River State Forest

‼️Important Update: Since filming this video, we have learnt that some of the tracks are on private property and not open to 4WD. The track where we encountered the downed tree ends at a campsite. Everything beyond that point, (around 14:16 in the video) including the river crossings, is not open to 4WD. ‼️ While this was an honest mistake, we take full accountability for being in the wrong place. The owners were incredibly kind and understanding in their communications with us, which we greatly appreciate. We take access permissions extremely seriously, and always do our absolute best to ensure we're driving in places we are meant to be. In this case, we made a mistake and we sincerely apologise. The owners also mentioned they've had issues with their signage and gates being damaged or removed. Despite the rain, mud and single digit temperatures, this was another great 4WD trip. From touring through misty forest tracks, to tackling the Styx River's 24 crossings, there was plenty of adventure to go around. 🏕️ We set up camp at an incredible free campsite called Wattle Flats, deep in the forest- the perfect base for muddy explorations and fireside feasts. We didn't let the weather dampen the mood! We huddled around the fire with some mulled cider and wine, paired with ‪@explore_moor‬'s wood-fired pizzas, and an epic gooey cheese skillets cooked right over the flames. 🚙 On Sunday we tackled the Styx River State Forest's 24 river crossings! We gave it a solid crack but managed about six before the conditions got the better of us. Still a wild ride and a heap of fun! This trip was muddy, cold, and absolutely worth every second.
