Sky News research suggests the government's plan to build hundreds of thousands of new homes is unlikely to solve the housing crisis. The problem is far more complex than a simple shortage of houses, which is confined to London and the South East. In some other areas, communities are shrinking or the housing stock simply isn't up to the job.
