We're going to start with a four-stitch braid. Braids generally have an even number of stitches. To make the braid stand out and look more beautiful, you should make a reverse stockinette stitch on each side. But if you're a beginner, I recommend that instead of making a reverse stockinette stitch, which requires thinking on the wrong side, you can make a snakeskin stitch on each side.
