In Memory of Fr. Francis & Janet Cameron (2013)
Today we reflect on the incredible lives of siblings Fr. Francis and Janet Cameron of Boisdale, Cape Breton. Born in Mabou, the family moved to North Sydney for employment before eventually settling in Boisdale. Fr. Francis and Janet were frequent performers at Celtic Colours, individually and as part of the Boisdale Trio. They were also significant contributors to the Cape Breton Fiddlers' Association. Fr. Francis passed away earlier this year while his sister Janet passed away in 2020. With the Cape Breton Fiddlers' 50th anniversary festival taking place this weekend in St. Ann's at Colaisde na Gàidhlig, let’s take a look back at a visit we had with the pair in 2013. This video was shot by Jenni Welsh and features Fr. Francis and Janet playing, Gaelic singing by Finlay Cameron, and music from the Rounder Records recording, Traditional Fiddle Music of Cape Breton, Volume 3: Bras d'Or House. https://www.capebretonfiddlers.com/
