Renault 5 Alpine (1976-1981) : Pour quelques chevaux de plus... Et ses concurrentes !

Renault 5 Alpine — For a Few More Horsepower... In the late 1970s, small sports cars flooded Europe. Facing off against the Golf GTI, the Opel Kadett GTE, the Ford Escort RS2000, the Talbot Sunbeam 1600 Ti, and the Alfasud Ti, the Renault 5 Alpine embodied the French vision of driving pleasure: compact, lively, and full of character. From its 93-horsepower Cléon-Fonte engine to its finely tuned chassis, the R5 Alpine was the first city car to combine sportiness and everyday usability. Produced in over 50,000 units, it launched an entire generation of "GTIs before their time," paving the way for the legendary Alpine Turbo. In this video, Les Carnets de l’Automobile retraces its history and that of its rivals, from the winding roads of Europe to the Montlhéry racetrack. 📅 Period: 1976–1981 ⚙️ Engine: 4-cylinder Cléon 1.4 (93 hp) 🏁 Competitors: Golf GTi, Kadett GTE, Escort RS2000, Alfasud Ti, Sunbeam 1600 Ti 📘 Find our "Les Carnets de l’Automobile" books on Amazon: https://www.amazon.fr/s?k=les+carnets... 👉 Subscribe to discover the history of cars that have... each week marked the 20th century. #Renault5Alpine #R5Alpine #Renault5 #GolfGTI #KadettGTE #EscortRS2000 #Sunbeam1600Ti #AlfasudTi #LesCarnetsDeLAutomobile #VoitureAncienne #HistoireAutomobile #ClassicCar #Youngtimer
