New Gib Plate for a Compound
NOTE - just found comment notifications are not coming in so - late to see them, thanks to all. We were asked to investigate a potentially problematic compound slide. It appeared that however gib screws were taken up, there was lateral 'slop' on its top slide - not good for machining consistency. Inspection found that the existing gib plate was not uniform in thickness, being significantly thicker in the middle section so, it was decided to make a new one from scratch. New and better gib screws should finally improve adjustability plus adding lock nuts.
