This time, I visited Tonkatsu Kagurazaka Sakura Hitachino Ushikubo, which has been open for about a year. It's about a five-minute walk from the east exit of Hitachino Ushikubo Station. If you're driving, it's along Prefectural Route 25, with Autobacs and Gyukaku in the same parking lot. (1-24-8 Hitachino Higashi, Ushiku City, Ibaraki Prefecture) The chain's flagship store is in Kagurazaka, Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo, and has many locations in the greater Tokyo area, but it seems to be actively expanding into regional cities across the country. Another location in Ibaraki Prefecture is in Kasahara, Mito. Is this the first tonkatsu chain under the renowned Colowide Group? I think they're very much aware of Wako, a long-established tonkatsu chain. Like Wako, they offer free refills of rice, miso soup, and cabbage with set meals during weekday lunchtimes, a rather challenging feat for today's market. Many of the lunch sets are priced in the low 1000 yen range. Personally, I'd highly recommend this place to people who are confident in their portion sizes and want to eat a lot for around 1000 yen. As someone who travels around eating tonkatsu, I think the menu could have been a little more unique. I think it falls into the category of your average tonkatsu chain. I think most people will be satisfied.
