In Exodus, we see two powerful pictures that reveal what Jesus has done for us—the Passover and the crossing of the Red Sea. These aren’t just ancient stories; they’re snapshots of what happens in our own lives when we put our trust in Christ. At Passover, God’s people were rescued by the blood of the lamb. Every home marked with the lamb’s blood was spared from death. That night pointed to something far greater—Jesus, the perfect Lamb of God, whose blood would one day be shed for the sins of the world. The blood wasn’t just a symbol; it was applied to the doorposts. In the same way, Jesus’ sacrifice only changes us when we personally receive it. His blood must be applied to our hearts. When we accept Jesus, we’re not just forgiven—we’re made new. That’s what the crossing of the Red Sea represents. The Israelites left behind their old life in Egypt, but when fear came, they wanted to go back. How often do we do the same? We’ve been freed, yet we return to old habits, old shame, and old ways of thinking. But God didn’t just save you to leave you standing on the shore—He called you to move forward into new life. Romans 6:4 says, “Just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” Your past has been buried. Your sins are forgiven. The enemy that once enslaved you has been washed away. Today, remember that you are rescued by the blood of the Lamb and raised to walk in new life. You don’t have to keep revisiting what God has already redeemed. The same God who parted the sea is still making a way for you. Prayer: Lord, thank You for rescuing me through the blood of Jesus. Help me to live as someone who’s been made new. When I’m tempted to go back to my old life, remind me that You’ve set me free. I choose to move forward with You. Amen.
