Hidden Stitch Wave Heading For Lined Curtains
Edit - at 38:20 I refer to the position of the top edge of the tape relative to the top edge of the curtain. In fact, the position of the top edge of the tape can vary depending on the combination of tape and track/pole used. I had just previously made some embroidered satin interlined Wave curtains (shown briefly in this video) and had to set the tape down by 7mm from the top of the curtain so that the pockets would be at the correct height to suit the track it was to be fitted to. In this video tutorial I show you how I have developed a structurally strong and super neat hidden stitch Wave curtain heading for lined curtains. Other names for the method are invisible Wave, no sew Wave or stitch free Wave heading and the is also known as Ripplefold in the USA. Wave is such a lovely neat style that it just feels wrong to machine sew the tape on at the top and have all those stitches showing on the front. This method uses buckram inside to give extra structure to medium and heavyweight fabrics, short or long. The curtains I'm making here are in a beautiful Wemyss Fabrics velvet called Elara in the sandstone colourway and features a shimmery silver textured overprint for extra glamour. 🕑 TIMESTAMPS 🕑 00:05 - Introduction 00:30 - Materials required 07:06 - Measuring & pinning the drop 08:53 - Placing & ironing in the buckram 14:02 - Trimming away the excess lining 19:44 - Ironing the buckram in place 21:26 - Transferring the finished drop line to the front 24:13 - Overlocking the raw edge 26:23 - Machine sewing the tape on 37:51 - Turning & pinning the heading down 41:13 - Hand sewing the heading 48:12 - Ironing the heading 49:58 - Counting pockets 51:00 - Calculating pocket spacing 51:54 - Inserting Hooks 55:49 - Completed curtains in situ #HiddenStitchWave #WaveCurtains #Waveheading #Ripplefold To enable me to keep bringing you great tutorials please support my channel : SUBSCRIBE | CLICK THE NOTIFICATION BELL | LIKE | SHARE | COMMENT Follow me on: Instagram - @WindmillCurtainRoom X - @Windmll_crtnrm www.facebook.com/WindmillCurtainRoom © Justine Bennett | Windmill Curtain Room (formerly The Windmill Workroom) | No usage of any content shall be granted without express prior permission.
