The East India Company came to India in the 1600s as a trading company. Slowly, it built forts, made alliances with local rulers, and used its private army to gain power. The Battle of Plassey (1757) gave the Company control over Bengal, making it the richest force in India. After defeating Mysore, the Marathas, and the Sikhs, the Company controlled most of the subcontinent. Heavy taxes and exploitation led to the Revolt of 1857, after which the British Crown ended the Company’s rule and took direct control of India. The East India Company, which came to India as an ordinary trading company, slowly expanded its kingdom and developed itself by engaging in joint trade with the kings of the country. Later, it also formed an army for itself. On one side, trade dominance, on the other side, power through weapons... It slowly began to capture every part of India. The British government fully supported it. After winning the Battle of Plassey in 1757, it captured Bengal and went on an uncontrolled power struggle. It then defeated powerful states like Mysore, Maratha, and Sikh and conquered most of India. Due to heavy taxes, exploitation, and injustice, a rebellion broke out among the Indian people in 1857. After this, the British Parliament suspended the Company's rule and the British government ruled India directly. Then, gradually, the East India Company disappeared from India.
