Utena AMV - Labour (the cacophony) (Paris Paloma) [SPOILERS, seizure warning, CW in desc]

But just a week ago as of finishing this, a friend shared this song with me... and after a few days having it on loop and simply thinking how ouch it was, I was suddenly hit with the realization that HOLY MOLY THIS WOULD MAKE SOME INCREDIBLE UTENA CONTENT. I started thinking it out a little, and looked up if other people had had the same idea... and people sure did! It's always a bit scary to do something that you feel like other people did before and it's always a very sweet reminder that no two artistic projects are entirely alike even when starting from similar ideas. It's always something that's very clear to me as an audience but absolutely impossible to drill into my brain when I actually make things.. :')) So, anyway, as I watched their takes on this song, I was simultaneously blown away by their good ideas of framing this or that part of the song a certain way... and at the same time, I was like, hey, I would have put that moment here! And I notably realized how eager I was to use THE MOVIE for this. When I unlocked this idea, I immediately had a flurry of thoughts about which parts of the movie to use, and so on Monday evening I started loosely storyboarding this with vague notes for the various moments of both series and movie I'd put where. Cut to now at the end of the week, with most of my waking thoughts and free time dedicated to making this because it quickly turned into an obsession, and here we are. I'm really proud of this; notably the very first parts that came into existence, the one with the Utena-Anthy hands stretching series/movie parallel that turns into a car- and paintings-themed chorus; and the final chorus, of course. Once I sketched these two, my brain absolutely refused to let go until I got it all done, because that felt too powerful to be left unfinished.
