🦍 Santaro’s Challenge: Taking His First Independent Steps The highlight of this video is baby gorilla Santaro practicing walking down to the outdoor habitat on his own for the very first time. A Big Adventure on Wobbly Little Legs Santaro is still unsteady on his feet, and even the smallest step or ledge can feel like a huge challenge. Although he doesn't always succeed at first, he never gives up. Time and again, he gets back up and tries again, showing remarkable determination for such a young gorilla. Genki the Mother Watches Over Him Santaro's mother, Genki, carefully keeps an eye on his safety while allowing him to learn and grow. At times, she seems to encourage him as if saying, “You can try again,” while at other moments she gently stops him from going too far. Her patient support beautifully reflects the bond between mother and child. Lunchtime with the Gorilla Family Before Santaro's walking practice begins, we also get a glimpse of the gorilla family's lively lunchtime. Different Dining Styles Father Momotaro and older brother Kintaro skillfully gather hay and food placed around the enclosure, including items suspended overhead. Meanwhile, Genki receives some of her food directly from the keepers. Is Santaro Already Growing Up? Though still very young, Santaro manages to get his own pellet (artificial feed) during lunchtime—a small but heartwarming moment that shows his growing independence. Other Family Moments Dad Momotaro and His New Net Momotaro can be seen holding a new protective net and spending time near the keeper area. He appears to have found his own unique way of using it, quite different from Kintaro's. Kintaro's Quiet Afternoon After lunch, Kintaro moves to the roof of the enclosure and spends some time looking rather bored, offering a glimpse into the everyday life of a young gorilla. Still toddling and just beginning to explore the world around him, Santaro is taking his first steps toward independence.
