Gain Structure for Live Sound At Church

Gain structure is one of those things everyone says is important, but it’s not always obvious what “good gain structure” actually means. Or exactly what it all looks like. In this video, I walk through the different gain stages in a live sound system you'll often find at church. I discuss everything from the source, mic or DI, preamp, channel processing, power amps and more - so you can understand where signal is getting turned up or turned down, and how to keep your console running it's best. We’ll also talk about what to do when part of the system is out of whack and you can’t immediately fix it, so you can still make good decisions and keep your mix under control.
