THE TEACHING OF SOUND DOCTRINE Titus 2:1; 2Timothy 1:13; Matt. 28:20 Aim: Titus’s teaching on family life Introduction These are the instructions to maintain our heavenly calling. It takes a family to build a church. 1. Concerning the natural age groups in the congregation (2: 1-15) A. The instructions for the various groups (2: 1-10) i. The instructional duty of Titus – 2: 1 ii. The instruction to different age groups – 2: 2 – 6 iii. The personal example of Titus – 2: 7-8 iv. The instructions to the slaves – 2: 9-10 B. The foundation for Godly living (2: 11-14) i. The manifestation of God’s grace – 2: 11 ii. The training by God’s grace – 2: 12 iii. The expectation of Christ’s return – 2: 13 iv. The purpose of Christ’s redemption – 2: 14 C. The restatement of the duty of Titus – 2:15 i. “These things speak” ii. “And exhort” iii. “And rebuke with all authority” iv. “Let no man despise thee” Conclusion In the conclusion of chapter 2, as well as in verse 15, the Apostle Paul once again emphasises the importance of Titus to speak the things, to exhort and rebuke with all authority. That is how serious the apostle Paul was in his instructions to the church.
