Never officially released in the West, Policenauts - a graphic adventure game - is only available in English by way of a fan translation. What happened in Policenauts, and how did the game prefigure Kojima's later work, up to and including his most recent game, Death Stranding? Watch this, the latest 'Jorin Lee Electronic Video Essay', to find out. Though the Sega Saturn version is, for the most part, the definitive edition of Policenauts, for this video I've used footage from the hardest to get in the West, the original PC-98 release. Much of this footage has never been seen by English speaking audiences before, so enjoy! 0:00 - Intro 1:07 - What Was Policenauts (Synopsis) 22:40 - Why Policenauts Mattered (Analysis) 31:59 - End Credits *************************** "Policenauts is the spiritual successor to Snatcher, both of which are sci-fi adventure games designed and written by Hideo Kojima. The story takes place in the year 2040 where private investigator Jonathan Ingram uncovers the mystery behind the disappearance of his ex-wife's husband, who is a citizen that lives aboard the space colony that now orbits the Earth." https://www.giantbomb.com/policenauts...
